Kill (or, in the case of the suits of armour, pay off) every
enemy you encounter. Take every piece of the crown you find.
These actions are not noted below.
What the game does not tell you is that to kill the knights,
you have to use the S key to thrust your sword. All other
enemies are defeated by either walking into them (Armour and
Dragon) or just being in the same room carrying the correct
item (Mage and Werewolf).
Be careful not to walk a screen too far after, e.g., crossing
a crevice; in a few cases this can make you face an enemy whom
you are not prepared to meet.
Do not take every object you come across; you can only carry
one at a time. In some cases, you cannot avoid walking into
and picking up some object, which you then have to drop again
once you've crossed the room.

Go down and _immediately_ go back up; you can just about avoid
being roasted if you're quick. If not, you end up back at the
(S)tarting point, still carrying the key. You will then have
to go right to the last locked door. If you survive, though:

All enemies have now been defeated, and you have collected all
six pieces of the crown. There is one crevice left uncrossed,
but there is no ladder left to cross it with. You don't get
any points for crossing crevices, though - or for unlocking
doors either - so as far as I can tell your final score is the
maximum possible.
It is also an achievement, of course, to solve the game with
as low a score as possible, defeating only such enemies as are
strictly necessary. This trick is left as an exercise for the
reader... (Two hints: if you have scored 15500 points, you
haven't found the minimum yet; and it may be possible to get
even lower by voluntarily giving up one of your lives.)
